Big Changes in 2016

As of May 1, 2016 Starbase Columbus was purchased by "The Federation" a 501 (c) 3 charity organization co-founded by Russ Haslage and Gene Roddenberry, after former owner, BJ Mitias announced her retirement.  Ms. Mitias opened this iconic Sci-Fi Shop just south of Westerville, OH in November of 1992.  It has endured to the present day, when most brick and mortar stores have gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Blast from the Past

We recently ran across this photo circa 2004 - 2005 when the Knight made entirely of Lego blocks was on display in our store for several months.  We had entered a contest at the Toy Fair in NYC and won.  Just another little piece of Star Base history.

2014 Geek Street

In late summer of 2014 Bills Bricks and Toys merged with Star Base Columbus thus creating a fun hybrid Star Trek- Sci-fi and Lego store!  Moore comics moved into the former Bills Bricks location in the red building adjacent to Star Base.  The tiny plaza where these businesses reside in Del Park Square has recently been dubbed Geek Street.  On Saturday afternoons Moore Comics holds HEROCLIX gaming at their former location in the House on the Hill, now known as Quark's.  This facility provides gaming space as well as a meeting place for local Star Trek and Science Fiction clubs.

So one can spend an entire Saturday perusing comic books, checking out the new Star Trek and Sci-Fi items, playing a game of HeroClix and attending meetings and activities sponsored by local clubs.  All are encouraged to come and check it out and be prepared for a day of AWESOME FUN!

20th Anniversary in 2012

Fans gather at Star Base during one of the events held to commemorate our 20th
anniversary in 2012.

In 2010 Star Base held a Rockin Beach Bash luau party as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  All had a great time while supporting a worthy cause.

One day Klingons and Stormtroopers were spotted hitchhiking together along
Westerville Rd. in search of transport to a galaxy far far away.

Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry Jr, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry has visited Star Base Columbus on several occasions. This photo of Rod with the Star Base Columbus crew was taken in September of 2002 during an event to celebrate the store's 10th anniversary.
